Worship
The worship at St John’s is centred around the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist.
Mass is celebrated every day of the week either at St John's or at our Affinity Parish, All Saints, Weston-super-Mare, with an Evening Mass on Monday and a 'Market Mass' at lunchtime on Thursday. The Friday Mass uses texts from the Book of Common Prayer and the 1928 modifications.
On the first Monday of each month the 6pm Mass has within it the opportunity to receive the laying on of hands and anointing with holy oil. This ministry can be received for oneself or for others. Due to the pastoral nature of these acts this Mass is not lived-streamed.
Sunday Mass at 10.30am uses the liturgical texts and readings from Common Worship.
Vestments are worn during all Masses and incense is used each Sunday at 10.30am in addition to Solemnities and other Holy Days. Mass is usually sung on Sundays at 10.30am, Holy Days and Festivals, with settings varying from Murray to Rizza.
We welcome the participation of members of the congregation as readers, servers and singers.
